Sketchbook: "33"

While on a short vacation last week I managed to get an actual drawing of an actual real person drawn from actual life into my sketchbook. And as it usually goes with a sketchbook, the time gets cut short for one reason or another and the drawing never gets finished. but that's what we love about the sketchbook isn't it.

My kids have been into watercolors lately. As long as the paint's out I can't resist stealing a couple colors from their palletes to throw down some washes in the old sketchbook. Doodled up these bears last night during a kitchen table drawing session with the little ones.

Did this little sketch while the "subject" was watching tv tonight. medium: pencil, watercolor, and whiteout. (with a tiny bit of shameless last minute washes thrown in with painter IX using the watercolor and acrylic tools).

fish

too much pen makes the pencil jealous so I broke out the lead and put it to the paper. After months of sketchbook neglect I woke up in the middle of the night and thought I should draw some fish.

Capricious?

I fell asleep with the tv on the the other night. I barely remember but I kinda rolled up an eyelid halfway in the middle of the night and got a little bit of a newsclip about a some lady who was discovered to have a few dead fetus's of her own lying around her home in garbage bags and such. one under the sink counter of her bathroom or something like that. I don't know. I was half asleep, but I was very fucking disturbed. I shut the tv off and had a nightmare about it... I'm still disturbed by it all. But I drew this picture which I will soon put up in color... I like to think that when it is completed it will be remnant of Francisco Goya's "Saturn devouring his son.,"crossed with the many "Madonna and Child" paintings we've seen throughout the centuries. Anyway, I don't make the people. I just draw the pictures. I'm calling this one "The Black Heart Mother." check back for the color version soon.

sketchbook: figure drawing

after 12 hours of mouse clicking, I managed to sneek into a figure drawing session for the last few minutes on thursday night. This one was off to a good start, but then the session ended. oh well.
